ELF Shimmering Facial Whip was a gift from ELF for purchasing few other products from their brand. As I like shimmer in anything be it my eye shadow or lipgloss or even my compact I was more than excited to use this facial whip. I was not sure how to use but then the pack said it can be used to highlight cheeks, lips and eyes. There are 6 shades available and the one I got was Citrus.
What made me buy this?
Actually nothing :) As mentioned earlier I got this as a free gift from ELF for purchasing their products.
"Multipurpose, on-the-go whipped colorant is vitamin B, C and E packed to instantly brighten and sooth skin with no greasy after-feel.
Squeeze a pearl-sized amount onto finger and blend into cheeks, eyes, or lips
Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Sorbitol, Mica, Titanium Dioxide(77891), Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Polyglyceryl-2, Dipolyhydroxystearate"
Look and Feel
This comes in a small cute little tube that anyone would love to posses. It is very handy and easy to be carried around. Can be used on the go. Also the easy to use tube with a thin nozzle allows just the right amount and hence the product does not get wasted.
One thing that made me completely ignore this product is its smell. It stinks so badly that I am never comfortable using this product. Also since this was a free gift I doubt whether the product is pretty old and that is why the unbearable smell.
How it works?
I took a small amount, less than pearl sized and tried blending it on my eyes. Though the consistency was liquid it was not very easy to blend. I had to rub a lot and that resulted in more of the product in my finger than in my eyes. It was such a pain to blend it that every time I wish to see some shimmer and I pick this one I regret using this.
|Blended [On top] and Unblended Swatch|
|More Shimmer in my finger|
I tried using it on my eye shadow and blush but that worsens the product that I had already applied. Since I had to rub hard it removes some of the blush and eye shadow that I have applied and I have to re-apply. I didn’t try it on my lips as the product smells bad and moreover almost all my gloss has little shimmer in it.
This fades out quickly [Thank God] and also does not even out my skin. It does not give any dewy finish as they claim and no skin conditioning as well. The product is very watery that whenever squeezed it just gives out more water and little of the product. So I had to shake, roll and twist it before use.
If at all I have to say something positive about this product then I would say that this does not clog my pores, not tested on animals and this one can be removed easily with just one swipe with my makeup remover. I am glad that though this didn’t work for me it didn’t ruin my skin as well.
Worth the Money?
The ELF Shimmering Facial Whip costs just USD 1. Though it is cheap I’ll say even the $1 is waste of money. According to me this does not work in anyway and hence not worth buying this at all.
I was about to get the MAC luster drops but since I had this I didn’t buy the MAC one thinking this small tube would make wonders. But I was highly disappointed. I wish we had ELF here so that I would have asked the MUA to show how to use this.
