Maybelline Whitestay UV Base Review

I always like to have a light alternative to my foundations as Chennai's weather is too hot at times and I don't feel comfortable wearing foundations. When I was on hunt for such a product the SA at Maybelline counter recommended me to try their UV base.

Here is the review requested by Rekha and for all you girls there :)

Description

The shade I have got is 02 Pink. Dermatologist tested, allergy tested, Non Comedogenic / Won't Clog Pores, Fragrance free. Superior UV protection SPF 35 PA+++. The first step to perfect your makeup finish, instantly enhances skin's natural luminosity and provides natural radiance all day.

There were many options available but the SA suggested the pink one for me. Later when I googled I found that white is for normal skin, purple is to correct yellow undertones, green to neutralize redness and pink is for pink undertones. I am still not sure whether the shade is the right one for me.

The color is similar to the foundations we find in the market but it is very very light on skin. It is a flowy lotion that gets absorbed on little massage. It gives a light shine to my skin and I am comfortable wearing this even during hot and humid climate. It works just like a lotion that gives a little glow and nothing else. Of course it has SPF 35 which is the only good thing about this.

Pros
  • The lotion is very light and hence easy to apply.
  • The lotion gets absorbed by the skin easily.
  • It is easily available.
  • Packaging is good and thus easy to use.
  • Leaves a light, subtle glow in the skin.
  • Has SPF 35.
Cons
  • Not a great base.
  • Leaves a white cast on the skin and I end up looking like a clown.
I have blended it in the middle of my wrist
Price

The Maybelline Whitestay UV Base costs Rs.300 for 30ml.

Verdict

All I like about this lotion is the SPF factor, glow it gives and it is light on the skin. I feel there are many creams in the market for the same price which does a better job. It doesn't score because of the whitish cast on my skin. I still doubt whether the SA gave the correct shade for my skin !!
