Olay Total Effects 7-In-1 Anti-Ageing Cream Review

As I am in my late 20s I thought it is the right time to start with an anti-aging cream and the one that was easily available was the Olay Total Effects cream. I had no clue how it works but the SA's never ending promises and stories made me try this one. I have been using this for almost an year now and I guess the review will be more accurate now. The face wash reviewed yesterday came free with this cream.

Description

This looks like a tinted moisturizer however it blends into the skin so well without leaving any whitish cast. So what does it claim

1. Line minimization: Reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles.
2. Nourishing moisturisation: for a radiant healthy glow.
3. Tone Enhancement: Balances colour and reduces appearance of age spots.
4. Gentle exfoliation: Smooths and evens out texture.
5. Pore refinement: Minimises the appearance of pores.
6. Free radical defense: helps prevent damage to skin’s surface.
7. Subtle lifting: Hydrates for firmer skin appearance.

However, all what it does is leaves my skin soft and supple. During summers I need very little amount else it would leave my skin oily ! Love the pump dispenser that dispenses the right amount of the cream which is neither too thick nor like a lotion.

Likes
  • Comes in a convenient packaging.
  • Pump dispenser gives the right amount of the product every time.
  • One bottle last for more than 3 months.
  • Leaves my skin soft and supple.
  • Does not leave any whitish cast on my skin.

Dislikes
  • Did not do anything that it claims.
  • Glad it did not harm my skin in any way but I didn't feel any anti-aging effects !!
  • Expensive for what it does.

Price

The cost of Olay Total Effects 7-In-1 Anti-ageing Cream is Rs.699 for 50 g.

Verdict

A decent moisturizer with false claims or something that didn't work for me in any other way. I like the way it leaves my skin - soft and supple. However why would I pay so much for a simple moisturizer for winters. So I might use this until I finish this bottle and look for better anti-ageing creams in future.

  4. I had tried a sample of this that mom had got from usa and it was really nice. I felt it had helped the texture of my skin and the pores (the sample just lasted 10 days). So when this was launched in India, i was so excited to buy this. Unfortunately, as with a lot of products, the quality of the cream from usa and the one we got here was quite different. The usa one sunk into my skin and made it feel so smooth. The one launched here just seemed to sit on my face, didnt get absorbed at all :(

  5. Nice review Aarthi...it's sad that it's nothing more than a moisturizer. I somehow feel international brand products that we get in India are of bad quality compared to the ones in abroad :/

    Come visit us sometime :)

  6. I love this moisturizer..I know everyone keeps cribbing about how it's all false claims, but this makes my skin look healthy, doesn't break me out, and is perhaps the only drugstore moisturizer that actually suits me. :D :D Nothing is going to reduce my pores and marks other than maybe time, so I really don't have very high expectations at least from a moisturizer :P

My mom uses this all the time, and I can really see a difference in her skin when she uses this regularly and when she skips - she has pretty good skin as it is, but this really makes her skin look like she got a facial. Maybe all those claims work on certain kind of skin tones but for younger people this just provides an antioxidant/protective benefit without really changing anything in the skin (because there isn't anything to change really)...

    Hmmm..such a long essay I wrote..I think I should also review this some day :D :D :D :D!!!
