Instant Skin-Lightening Anti-Tan Face Pack : DIY

Summers are here and how much ever I try to protect my skin from the scroching sun I get tanned very easily. I always rely on this face pack that removes my tan in just 1 day based on the severity of the tan. Even when I was badly tanned I used this face pack continuously for 5 days and it was all gone, leaving behind a soft supple and more than anything a face that looked like mine ! Today, I am sharing my HG DIY face pack for that glowing skin :)

I have already written about this face pack long back HERE, however here is the updated version :p Yes, this is how I use the face pack right now :)

What do you need to make this Face Pack?

Just three basic things that you will easily find in your kitchen.

1. Moong Dal / Green Gram Powder - 2 Tbsp

2. Curd / Milk - 2 Tbsp

3. Juice from Half a Lemon [Remove the seeds]

How to make the Face Pack?

1. Mix the green gram powder and curd and beat it into a thick paste. You can also use milk instead of curd to make a loose paste or if you do not like the smell of curd which is a bit over powering when compared to milk.

Thick Paste

2. Squeeze out the juice from half a lemon and make sure you remove the seeds before squeezing. Again mix the juice with the thick paste and this loosens the paste a bit and makes it easy to apply.

3. Apply this paste all over the face, neck and hands - wherever you are tanned. Leave the pack to dry for 10-15 mins maximum. As time passes you can feel the pack tightening, so once the pack dries completely pat the face with water and scrub the face little. The pack acts as a mild scrub as well. Then wash the face and remove the pack completely.

You can notice
  • Instant Glow in the face.
  • Tan removed to a great extent.
  • Skin feels smooth and supple.
The above mentioned quantity would suffice for 2 people if applied on face and neck only. It is better to make it fresh and apply immediately than to prepare this mixture and refrigerate it. No harm if you refrigerate but I use this fresh always. Sister prefers using this with milk and she feels it works better that way but for me it works better with curd. So find out which works better for you !

Try this and let me know how it works for you :)

  1. I've used this during my post partum maalish (without the lemon juice) as besan doesn't suit my skin. Need to start this again now that summer's here.

  2. Sounds great Aarthi. I've been trying something similar with bengal gram flour & I found it a bit drying. Will try this out now. Do you follow any specific after care for this one? Since it has lemon in it, does it make you photosensitive or anything like that?

    1. Many people use bengal gram but I prefer this. I just use a regular moisturizer and sunscreen that is all Poohkie :)
