Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm : Photos, Review, Swatch, Pictorial

My MAC wipes and Estee Lauder Makeup Remover got over and though I would be buying it again and again, for a change I wanted to try a different cleanser. I sought the help of other bloggers and they strongly recommended me to try the one by Clinique and Lancome. Lancome was not in stock so I ended up buying the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. I have been using this for more than 6 months now and finally I decided to review it today.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

Description

The cleansing balm comes in a really huge tub with a lid that has a mirror in it ! Isn't that a sweet surprise? The balm is plain white in color and is thick like a wax. I use a q tip to take a little of the balm and massage it over my skin for a few seconds. The thick wax like balm melts into an oil like consistency as it gets in contact with your skin and your body's heat makes the transformation. It dissolves the make up in seconds and then I wipe it off with a facial tissue. The balm doesn't have any significant fragrance and once you wipe off with a tissue all your make up comes off easily in just a couple of swipes.

I was very happy till here but I have to follow washing my face with a soap or a face wash as the oily residue on my skin doesn't make me comfortable to sleep with it ! So it is like I am double cleansing, however all your makeup would be gone the first time it self. The question is would you be really patient enough to do this double cleansing after a long day and when all you want to do it just hit the sack.

1. Take a little balm with a q tip or a spatula. It is hygenic not to use your fingers to take the product from a tub.

2. Massage it lightly over your skin without giving any pressure. Your makeup would just dissolve in seconds.

3. Wipe off with a cotton pad or a facial tissue.

4. In just 2 swipes you could see spot less skin that is totally free of make up !

  • A huge tub with a lot of product !
  • It would last me easily for 2 years !!
  • The thick balm just melts once it gets in touch with your skin.
  • It dissolves the makeup in seconds.
  • Works well with water proof make up too.
  • Fragrance free.
  • Suits all skin types.
  • Does not irritate my eyes.
  • Ophthalmologically tested.

Dislikes
  • I do not even mind the tub packaging but I have to follow with a face wash after I use this balm as it leaves my skin a bit oily after removing makeup :(  I am super lazy to just remove makeup and when I think about this double cleansing it just pushes me to go to bed without taking the make up at all !!!
  • Not travel friendly. I wish it came in a smaller tub too.

Price

The cost of Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is Rs.2000 for 125 ml of the product.

Verdict

I love this cleansing balm and this is one of the very few makeup removers that removes even the toughest makeup without any tugging or pulling. That way your skin would love this balm for being nice to it. Also it doesn't leave the skin dry. The only dependancy being that you have to follow with a face wash or at least just plain water ! This is not a product for lazy souls like me ! However, whenever I have to take the make up be it in the morn or noon without any doubt I choose this amazing cleaning balm that gets rid off every toughest bit of make up.

  1. I've been thinking of buying this since quite some time. Right now I use the Clarins oil for removing makeup but this one seems lovely too.

  4. I had a similar one for eye makeup from an UK brand Queen Cosmetics..but you know my Jergens cream also works the same way for my eye makeup..I don't use this all over the face..as u mentioned, gets too oily. So, only for the eye area..and there is this Vita- Age Aurum from Bottega Di Lungavita which I use for face but stings like hell for eyes..so have to use a different one for eyes..

Sorry for such a long comment :/

    1. Good that you use different one for eyes and face. I would be too lazy for that too !! Glad this works both for face and eyes :p Also since the quantity is huge I don't know when I'll finish this one :(

  7. I use this and love it!!! Instead of wiping it clean try using a little bit of water. The oil emulsifies in a jiffy. Infact I go one step ahead and use a wet wash cloth. Voila. Squeaky clean and hyderated skin. On the rare days when I've used waterproof makeup, I do a double cleanse. Else one wash works fine for me.

  8. Aarthi cleansing balms are not meant to be rinsed or tissue'd away. They work best when you massage the balm on to dry skin. The balm melts under the warmth of your fingers emulsifying makeup with it. Then use a wet flannel to wipe everything away. It will take all traces of makeup and oiliness with it. Then splash some water and gently press a towel to your face. Make sure you wash the flannel after 2 or 3 uses. You do not have to double cleanse daily, reserve it for days when you have used too much makeup.
